EMAIL #68 - 27th, April, 2020 - IT'S TIME TO BUILD

This week several of the blogs and podcasts that I follow have started to talk about the recovery process following the COVID-19 crisis and the consensus seems to be that "It's time to build".

EMAIL #67 - 18th, April, 2020 - STAYING IN CONTROL

As this health crisis grinds on through the fourth week, we are all finding it harder and harder to stay sane and positive. The only way we can do this is by staying in control of our personal circumstances. So much of what has been happening right now is completely outside of our control, and it is perfectly natural to try to find someone to blame. But with this worldwide pandemic there is no one to blame!

EMAIL #66 - 12th, April, 2020 - A DIFFERENT KIND OF EASTER

This weekend marks three weeks of Stage 3 shutdowns across the state, and I feel that we are all starting to adjust to "The new normal". Social distancing is now widely accepted and trusted and has become a normal part of our behaviour in public. All our children are doing home school (or home holidays at present) and the majority of us are working from home or are on part time rosters. Hardest of all is the burden that is being placed on all health care workers and their families and the tens of thousands of businesses that have been completely shut down and the scores of people that now have no work.

EMAIL #65 - 5th, April, 2020 - PRIVILEGE & RESPONSIBILITY

There has never been a more important time to focus on your own health and wellbeing. "Wellness is a skill that must be practiced daily" Unknown. One of our major responsibilities is to stay healthy in both body and mind. To take this responsibility seriously you should re-evaluate your own habits and preferences. To this end, I would highly recommend that you do a personal "Wellness health check".

EMAIL #64 - 29th, March, 2020 - ADVERSITY REVEALS CHARACTER

This morning I read a credible article that said that "right now half of the world’s population is living in social isolation", dozens of countries are in complete shutdown and Australia is heading rapidly towards the same lockdown conditions. This worldwide health crisis seems "so small yet so huge" all at the same time and I am finding it extremely hard to get my head around. When you look around you everything seems quite normal (apart from less traffic) but the statistics tell a whole different story, with the number of cases of COVID-19 and the number of deaths growing exponentially each day, especially in USA and Europe.

EMAIL #63 - 22nd, March, 2020 - SPECIAL EDITION FROM MARYANNE IN ITALY

Hi Team, These are very turbulent times for all of us and at present my family is experiencing an extra dimension with Maryanne and Maggie living in Italy. So, Maryanne has stepped up and written this week’s email. This is pretty significant for us all. Hearing the news that the Corona Virus (COVID-19) social distancing regulations have come into place this week in Australia I thought it necessary that I write this week’s DDB email.

EMAIL #62 - 16th, March, 2020 - RISING TO THE CHALLENGE

How you rise to a challenge and respond to difficult and challenging situations largely depends on your individual "emotional capacity". Your emotional capacity relates to how you view challenging situations and then how you manage your feelings and emotions when responding to the situation at hand. People with good emotional capacity have a high level of self-awareness and seem to have more emotional energy which allows them to respond positively and rise to the challenge.

EMAIL #59 - 17th, February, 2020 - THE IMPORTANCE OF DOING PRODUCTIVE WORK

This is a big question and not easy to answer, but for what it's worth, I'm going to give it a go! The most compelling answer that makes the most sense for me is in a book called "Outliers" written by Malcolm Gladwell. In Outliers, Gladwell states that in order to be happy and fulfilled, Humans need two things. "1, to feel connected to a community or family & 2, to do productive work."
