EMAIL #131 - 8TH AUGUST 2021 - "ONE OF THE MOST UNDERRATED CHARACTER TRAITS"
Hi Team,
Back in lockdown and it's starting to feel almost normal, which is a real worry!
It seems all we can do to prevent this from happening again and again is to get vaccinated.
I'm having my second jab next week and I would encourage everyone to do the same as soon as possible.
As many of you already know my family is about to move house and we are currently in the middle of packing up our well-endowed St Kilda house, prior to moving into a considerably smaller property two suburbs away. Packing and moving house is one of those things that it doesn't matter how many times you have done it before (No 16 for us) it completely catches you unaware. This is also the first time we have elected to down scale (i.e., moving to a house half as big), which brings a whole new set of challenges, such as what do you do with those extra sofa's??
Over the last week or so it has been reinforced to me numerous times that my wife Maryanne, possesses bucket loads of an underrated character trait, resourcefulness. She has expertly orchestrated our last 15 moves and for our last 4 moves we had used the same removal company, so for this move we were keen to use the same removalist again. However, when their quote came in at $16 grand (three times what we have ever spent before), we needed a plan B. So, after numerous phone calls and emails, Maryanne had broken the move into three stages being carried out by two different removal companies, hired all the boxes, and locked in all the dates, at new total cost of $6500.00. That is the beauty of having a resourceful wife!!
"A resourceful person will always make opportunities fit his or her needs." Napoleon Hill
The definition of resourcefulness is, the ability to find quick and clever ways to overcome difficulties. The key to being resourceful is being able to think outside the box and to be creative with your solutions. There are always numerous ways of achieving the desired outcome, you just have to be prepared to think things through and back yourself. The main reason that people procrastinate and take the easy path is the fear of failure and being scared to ruffle a few feathers. This is where some self-confidence and a "can do attitude" makes all the difference and is what sets apart a truly resourceful person from the rest.
"Anyone who doubts the ingenuity and resourcefulness of a plumber never got a bill from one." George Meany

Thanks for reading.
Stay safe and think outside the box!
Good luck during lockdown 6.0
