EMAIL #08 - 6th, August, 2018 - The meaning of common purpose

Hi Team,

Today my weekly email has a bit of a somber mood as I am aware that several of out team members are currently struggling with some personal issues. As the leader of the DDB team one of my missions is to create a work place culture that is fully supportive of all it's team members.

For me a strong supportive work culture is essential to allow and promote personal growth and to protect all of the team members. So today I have selected two quotes that reinforce my strong belief in the value of a supportive business culture.

"To thrive a business must create a circle of safety that all employees are protected by." And, "Letting someone into an organisation is like adopting a child; they must feel safe to learn, grow and thrive." - Both by Simon Sinek.

Leading up to the next DDB Team Meeting on the 17th August, I would like you all to ponder and come up with a couple of answers to the following two questions;

  1. What is the common purpose of the DDB Team? (If you are interested in digging a bit deeper or struggling with the meaning of common purpose, I would recommend watching Simon Sinek's TED Talk on "Start With Why" The first 5 or 6 minutes are the best) PS: this is the most watched TED Talk in history!
  2. What is DDB's main brand promise to it's clients? (Hint: "It's a tangible benefit that makes a product or service desirable".  For lots of ideas Google "brand promise")

We will be doing a team brainstorm on the 17th on these two questions and I am expecting some inspired answers or contributions from everyone...

Thanks for reading,
David.
