EMAIL #04 - 3RD, JULY, 2018 - Insights into our culture
Hi Team,
I'm back at work after a wonderful break in Bali, but not enjoying the cold mornings!
One of the biggest benefits of having a break from the regular work routine, is being able to think more clearly and deeply about the business and the future. So i have chosen a quote for this week that emphesises this powerful benefit.
"It is the meaningless bustle that gets in the way of productivity. To be creative you must give peace a chance" Tom Hodgkinson.
Sharon has tallied the results of the exercise from the last DDB Team meeting, where we each gave a score out of 10 for the 25 performance measures for our 5 core values. Here are the main take aways from the exercise results + scores.
1. The scores that each team member gave for each of the 25 performance measure were fairly consistent.
2. The highest average scores for team performance were for "transparency" at 89.4% and "pride" at 82.5%.
3. The lowest average scores for team performance were for "communication" at 74.4% and "kaisan" at 74.8%.
So these results tell me some valuable insights into our current strengths and weaknesses. It is great that we are all consistant in our opinion of our current performance (ie our scores for each performance measure were very consistant). Our current strengths are transparency in how we relate to each other and our clients and pride in the work we do. =
But our current weaknesses are in communication, (especially emails + buildertrend) and kaisan or constant improvement, (especially our procedures and use of buildertrend). It is not surprising that the scores for the two buildertrend performance measures were the lowest, because it is such a new software program that we are all still learning to use and this will need to be one of our main focuses for the next few months. We will be analysing and discussing these exercise results in more detail at the next DDB Team meeting on 20th July.
Thanks for reading,
David.
