EMAIL #65 - 5th, April, 2020 - PRIVILEGE & RESPONSIBILITY

Hi Team,

We are all currently in a very privileged position to be able to keep working, whilst a lot of people in our community cannot. For the next few weeks, your work will be keeping the economy going and the wheels of commerce turning slowly. We have a social responsibility to stay at home when we are not working and to strictly adhere to social distancing and personal hygiene practices at all times. We cannot let our guard down. We are all depending on each other. We must stay healthy and virus free. "We are all at war with a common enemy".

"No one ever wants to be dragged into a war, but when you find yourself there, the only way through is by acknowledging the reality and doing your part to ensure victory."  Robert Glazer

There has never been a more important time to focus on your own health and wellbeing. "Wellness is a skill that must be practiced daily" Unknown. One of our major responsibilities is to stay healthy in both body and mind. To take this responsibility seriously you should re-evaluate your own habits and preferences. To this end, I would highly recommend that you do a personal "Wellness health check".

  1. Review and reinvent your morning routine.
  2. Review and reinvent your diet.
  3. Review and reinvent your exercise habits.

It is also important to re-evaluate your personal and professional goals. Everyone's lives have been turned upside down at present and we all have completely different needs and priorities than we had a few weeks ago. Two days ago, I wrote out my revised goals for the next 90 days then shared them with everyone around me, and I strongly recommend that you should all do the same. It's amazing how much clarity and purpose this simple exercise can give you.

Another recommendation is that you think about how you are communicating with the people around you and consider
"the power of talk". Humans are social animals and they need to talk things through particularly during stressful times. It is detrimental to your health to hold things in and not discuss the topics that are worrying you or constantly on your mind. "You will feel better and sleep better if you discuss stuff with others".

Thanks for reading,
Remember to turn your clocks back an hour,
Stay safe and soldier on.
David
