Hi Team,

To kick off my first email about Team Work, I would like to start with a quote from David Guest (my business coach).

"Trust is like lubrication. It reduces friction and creates conditions for great things to happen." 

Team work is all about trust...

Now for a quick wrap up of our DDB Team Meeting last Friday.
(Thank you for all your individual participation and enthusiasm, it makes all the difference!)

For any team to succeed it must have a clear common purpose. To identify our team's purpose, we brainstormed our clients main fears and problems.

Client's top three fears/problems are,

1. Trust.
2. Stress/disruption.
3. cost blow outs.

Next we discussed how DDB can best solve these problems/fears.

We can instill a high level of confidence & trust by having excellent communication and seamless systems and processes.

We also identified, what are our team's main challenges,

1. Managing our clients expectations. (They all have vastly different expectations and mostly don't know what they don't know.)
2. Keeping the project on schedule.
3. Maintaining their trust throughout the whole process (ie up to two years).

This all reinforces our "Team purpose" (ie, DDB's MISSION).

"To make the entire process of designing and building a new home or renovation a thoroughly enjoyable experience for everyone involved."

The importance of having a clear & compelling team purpose or mission is that it makes everyday problems seem small and easy to overcome. If a client or any DDB team member is no longer enjoying the building process it is a clear sign that something is wrong and must be addressed.

We currently have five projects under construction and four of these jobs must be finished before Christmas. The next 6.5 months are going to be extremely busy and the whole team will be under pressure to perform at a high level. So working as a team will be vital to us being able to complete all four projects on schedule and up to expectations.
