EMAIL #09 - 13th, August, 2018 - Future of Leadership
Hi Team,
Today feels like a very positive day! Everyone is back on deck (other than Raph at school), we have five projects now underway and a new team member Andy, starts today. Andy will be taking care of the renovation job at Hammond St, Brighton, that starts today, so when you get a chance to meet him, please make him feel welcome and part of the team.
Last Thursday Luke and I attended The "Future Of Leadership Conference". This was the second year I have attended this conference and it definitely lived up to my expectations. There were eight world class speakers who all delivered powerful speeches about there personal beliefs and experiences with leadership. Several of the speakers reinforced my own belief that the cornerstones of leadership are trust, consistency and security.
This week's quote speaks directly to putting this belief into action at DDB.
"When you tell someone what to do, you get a worker. But if you trust someone to do their job, you get a leader", Simon Sinek.
Something I learnt from this conference is that you don't have to be the owner of a business or a manager at work to be a leader. Everyone is the leader of their own life and every parent is a leader of their family. This conference is held each year, so I would like to invite anyone in out team who is interested to attend with me next year?
Please remember that you have some homework for the team meeting this Friday. I will be asking you all to contribute your ideas and answers to the two questions I posed last week. So make sure you come prepared with lots of ideas!
1. What is the common purpose of the DDB Team?
2. What is the main "brand promise" to its clients?
Thanks for reading,
David.
